Fabrication Specialist A

(U.S. Citizenship Required*)

Ladson, SC


  • Perform machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks.

  • Perform composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks.

  • Assemble precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components.

  • Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains.

  • Solder electronic and avionics products.

  • Assemble and install wire harnesses and avionics products.

  • Prepare test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests.

  • Perform basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation.

  • Apply routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements.

  • Work on articles of moderate complexity using established drawings and requirements.

  • Various shifts

  • Preferred – Construction background; Cabinet, wood working, composites experienced;

  • Preferred – Boat building, automotive/motorcycle fabrication, body work, assembly repair.

  • Preferred excel and Microsoft office suite knowledge

  • Lift less than 25 pounds, occasionally lift 21-35 pounds, and infrequently participate in a 2-person lift for weights greater than 50 pounds

  • Bend and twist at the waist, walk, crawl, crouch, stand for long periods, kneel, reach, climb/balance, flex/extend

  • Contact with sealants and solvents, exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms

  • Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required.

  • Read, write, and comprehend the English language

  • Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material

  • Obtain & maintain training certifications as required to support assignment responsibilities

  • Occasional (1 to 3 hrs) finger manipulation

  • Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces as well as reaching overhead (3-6 hrs)

  • Exposure to metals, plastics and solvents to atmospheric conditions

  • Frequent exposure to noise

Education and Experience: Preferred 1 or more years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. High School Diploma or GED is required.
