Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and experience in related field is required. Master’s degree preferred in related field (counseling, K-12, Education Administration, or Higher Education.) Demonstrated knowledge of outreach strategies and experience working with students, families, counselors and educators within underrepresented groups. The ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students of the college as well as members of the community is essential. Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have considerable knowledge and skills in computer operations, data entry, MS Word and Excel and the ability to work closely with other members of the staff and prospective families.

Additional Comments Regarding Position

Must be able to travel extensively, to include overnight. Must have a valid SC or other state driver’s license. Evening and weekend work be required. Ability to lift and carry 40-60 pounds is necessary. Must be able to work on a second and third floor without elevator access. Experience working with CRM software and SunGuard Banner Products along with Sales Force is preferred but not required.

Develop and manage a geographic territory for recruitment; plan, execute, and assess recruitment travel activities to include plans and goals for information sessions, sit-downs, college fairs, high school visits and community outreach presentation that reflect the needs of our South Carolina students and coastal areas of Georgia and Florida. Advise and counsel prospective students and families on admissions requirements; manage all follow-up communication within recruitment territory and out of territory as assigned. This includes undergraduate prospective and applicants; (freshman and transfer) as well as, school counseling personnel, alumni, Parent Council, Board of Trustee members, community partners and other stakeholders. Evaluate admissions applications and actively participate in the committee selection process. 10-12 weeks of travel is required.

Assist with the development, planning and coordination of student of color and first generation recruitment and retention programming; AALANA Preview Day, overnight visit program, summer access programs for middle and high school students, alumni and student tele-counseling, College Application Day(s), yield events and other programs as assigned. Assist with the development, planning and coordinating of other admissions events as assigned or needed.

Recruit, supervise, train and mentor student counselors for all summer pre-college programming initiatives. Work closely with campus partners to ensure a safe and friendly environment for students attending our pre-college programs during the summer. Develop, coordinate and implement opportunities for current students, faculty, staff and alumni of the college that will support all pre-college program initiatives.
