Job Description

Design, develop, validate, and implement methods and tools that improve the operational flexibility and execution of a lean production system (Bosch Production System / BPS) using appropriate logistics concepts and lean principles. Modify and improve existing logistics systems. Lead material team in the development and implementation of methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging and distribution throughout the supply chain.

Maintain, update, and validate Logistics FMEA / control plan for the Charleston plant. Lead Quality review activities for logistics (PDSS, 8D, 5 why, etc...)

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements solutions that focus on reducing lead time throughout value stream

  • Demonstrates experience with Lean Systems design

  • Designs packaging relative to Bosch standards and customer requirements

  • Designs supplier packaging to meet material handling, transportation, warehousing and value stream requirements

  • Reduces costs by eliminating waste related to the supply chain and returnables management

  • Develops standardized work for Material Flow Center associates

  • Assists with managing various Plan for Every Part worksheets

  • Facilitates and recommends departmental layouts that optimize material flow and support lean concepts

  • Forecasts future space requirements by considering inventory policy, ramp-ups/ramp-downs, and equipment / operator utilization

  • Liaison between logistics group and other organizations

  • Provides logistics support on cross-functional teams including Lean Line Designs


  • BS degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Quality or related technical field

  • Prior Logistics/Materials/Packaging experiencepreferred

  • Previous experience with self -managed teamspreferred

  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Must be flexible (welcome and adaptable to change), including working hours

  • Follow-up effectively to insure successful implementation

  • Demonstrate discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established standards, policies, and procedures
