Coordinates, applies for and monitors grants received by the Police department for compliance requirements and regulations by performing the following duties. Works with the Grants Manager to develop policies and procedures related to grant administration to be utilized by grantee department. Monitors paperwork and budgets connected with grant funded programs to ensure compliance requirements are met. Oversees all grants for the department. Reviews and interprets regulations and requirements for grants within the department. Work with Grants Manager as liaison for audits of granting agencies. Maintains files on grants received by department. Coordinates use of forms, procedures, systems and controls needed to ensure the City/department complies with requirements to grantor agencies. Prepares grant packages and reviews grant packages prepared by other members of the department and provides feedback that will result in the best submission possible. Monitors wages, expenses, activities, etc to maintain grant compliance. Ensures compliance by writing periodic reports, submitting budget information and activities as required by funding agency. Constructs and reviews budget information for project and grant applications and meets with City Finance Staff and Grants Manager and City Auditors as needed. Identifies grant sources, obtains grants and administers grant programs for Police related activities. Reviews literature dealing with funds available through grants from governmental agencies and private foundations to determine feasibility of developing programs to supplement City/Department annual budget allocations. Discusses program requirements and sources of funds available with appropriate department personnel. Develops, with input from others, program goals and objectives, outlines how funds are to be used, and explain procedures necessary to obtain funding. Assists in the preparations for grant documents as required by federal, state, and private agencies. Coordinates the application for grant funds through the Grants Manager. Perform other duties as assigned. Requires: Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) one - two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word, Access, Powerpoint, or similar software. Valid state issued Driver’s License.
